COVID-19: FG Shutdown NYSC Orientation Camps Nationwide

The management of the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) has been directed to suspend its ongoing orientation course. The ongoing orientation course for batch A stream 1 corps members were put on hold. This announcement was by Sunday Dare, minister of youth and sports development.

The orientation course which started on the 10 of March 2020 was to last for 3 weeks. It put on hold due to the rapid spread of the covid-19 pandemic. The virus has affected over 203,561 and 8,160 has resulted in death worldwide according to world meter.

Mr. Sunday Dare, on Wednesday, asked Corp members to report at their various places of primary assignment. The minister stated that “this again is a precautionary measure on the part of the government to check the spread of COVID-19”.He also stated that the DG of the NYSC will provide details.

According to reports from the NYSC Corp members will resume activities when the situation improves.

The management also noted that no corps member or camp official has contracted the coronavirus. This is a step to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The management of the NYSC also admonished corps members to be good ambassadors of the institution. He further charged them to always stay safe.
